BELFRY, Ky. — A Pike County man was killed while riding a bicycle on U.S. 119 before sunrise Wednesday.

According to the Pike County Coroner’s Office, Eric Bentley, 40, of Freeburn, was crossing the highway in front of Belfry Middle School around 6:30 Wednesday morning, when he rode into the path of a truck and was hit. He died at the scene.

Deputy Coroner Mike Hall said the driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. He said no charges were filed at the scene.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the incident.
