PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A veteran Appalachian sports journalist is returning to Mountain Top Media to help tell the stories of mountain athletes.

Mountain Top Media President Cindy May Johnson has announced that Cody Davis has been hired as Sports Content and Internship Program Manager, effective Oct. 6.
Davis previously worked at Mountain Top from 2019 to 2023 and says he is thrilled to be back with the company.
“Mountain Top Sports has played such a huge part in my life,” Davis said. “The people here have watched me grow, succeed and eventually become the person I am now. But more importantly, I love the region, and this opportunity allows me to strategically train the next generation of sports content creators in the mountains.”
In his new role, Davis will help guide coverage by Mountain Top Sports, as well as develop a new program to offer internship opportunities to area college and high school students.
“I’m excited to partner with area schools to provide the guidance and mentorship that these young creators deserve,” he said.
Davis is a graduate of the Film and Media Arts program at the University of Pikeville and is currently finishing a master’s degree in Communication Studies at Arkansas State University. He plans to pursue a doctorate after that.
