PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — An employee of the Prestonsburg driver’s license office has been arrested, after police say she kept patrons’ debit card numbers and used them to buy items for herself.

Brittany Dingus, 30, of East Point in Johnson County, was arrested Friday morning. She is charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, one count of attempted fraudulent use of a credit card, and one count of unlawful access to a computer.

An investigation by Prestonsburg Police Det. Dennis Hutchinson revealed that Dingus allegedly kept the numbers of people who frequented the driver’s license office, then used them to make several online purchases. The charges against her allege those purchases were between $500 and $1,000.

Dingus is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment May 15.
