PILGRIM’S KNOB, Va. — The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office plans to have an increased police presence at Twin Valley High School on Monday, following a threat made by a student Friday evening.
Buchanan County 911 received a call around 6:30 p.m. from a person claiming that a person was going to “shoot up Twin Valley High School.” The location of the call was traced and deputies responded to a home, where they found a juvenile boy had placed the call and was referring to himself in the third person as the potential shooter.
The boy was taken into custody and, as required by state law, later released to his family with orders to be evaluated by the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice at a later date. The sheriff’s office will maintain contact with the boy and his family until the evaluation.
The sheriff’s office says the boy is not a student at any school in Buchanan County.
