Drive-through coronavirus testing set for Mingo County

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The region’s first drive-through coronavirus testing event will be held later this week.

The Mingo County Health Department will conduct drive through COVID-19 testing on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Hospital. Those hoping to take part are required to call in advance and be screened over the phone by a nurse to see if they’re eligible for testing.

Mingo Health Department Administrator Keith Blankenship says the department hopes to test 40 to 50 people people at the event, but they’re prepared for more, and want to do more. Those who qualify for testing will be sent from station to station before they are swabbed by a healthcare professional.

For more information, visit the Mingo County Health Department Facebook page. To inquire about qualifying for testing, call (304) 235-2570 or (304) 899-6119. The event is open to all Mingo County and Tug Valley residents, including residents of Kentucky.
