PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An arrest for driving under the influence ended up leading police to an investigation that resulted in drug trafficking charges.

Pikeville Police pulled over Clinton Williams, 53, of Pikeville, on U.S. 23 Monday, after noticing that he was weaving. The officer found Williams to be lethargic with glassy eyes, so he had him perform a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Williams reportedly admitted to having taken two Neurontin earlier in the day, and he was arrested for DUI and several traffic violations.
But after the arrest, police received information that Williams was suspected of transporting marijuana from Cincinnati to Pikeville, so they went to his mother’s house, where he had been storing some things. After getting permission to search, officers found more than 1.25 lbs. of marijuana and an ounce of meth, along with plastic bags, scales and a grinder.
Following that discovery, Williams was additionally charged with trafficking in meth and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He continues to be held in the Pike County jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
