ELKHORN CITY, Ky. — An Elkhorn City man has been charged with murder, after being accused of shooting and killing his brother in an argument.

It all happened on Monday, when Cody Cantrell, 36, was involved in an altercation with his father, which resulted in the father sustaining a visible injury to his face. That incident led to an argument with his brother, Adam Cantrell.

According to Kentucky State Police, Cody Cantrell then shot his brother, killing him.

Cody Cantrell also sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police did not elaborate on who shot Cody Cantrell, but said the injury occurred during the incident with his brother.

He has now been charged with murder, as well as assault for the altercation with his father.
