Feds charge man for Floyd cocaine arrest

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A man arrested after police found 20 bags of cocaine in his car during a traffic stop has now been indicted in federal court.

Jose Luis Perez Ramon, 35, of Lexington, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.

Kentucky State Police pulled over Perez on Route 114 in Prestonsburg June 15 for excessive window tint. After finding Perez had no license, they searched his car and found the 20 bags of cocaine.

He was arrested and faces a charge of cocaine trafficking in Floyd County, which carries a maximum potential sentence of 10 years. However, he now faces between 5 and 40 years for the federal charge.
