LOUISA, Ky. — Five people were arrested on organized crime charges, after police raided a Lawrence County home and found evidence of a large drug trafficking organization.

Louisa Police went to a home on Lackey Avenue Thursday with a search warrant. Police say one of the residents of the house — 43-year-old Jonathan Young — ran away as officers approached, but was quickly apprehended.

Inside the home, police found what they described as “a very large amount” of meth and a “large amount” of cash, as well as a substance believed to be heroin. They also found scales, plastic bags, needles, cut straws and multiple handguns.

Young was arrested along with his girlfriend, 24-year-old Brittany Hammonds, and three other men, 24-year-old Joseph McCoy, 33-year-old John Thomas, and 37-year-old Kenneth Pack II.

All are charged with complicity to engage in organized crime.
