IVEL, Ky. — A Floyd County man has been arrested one month after police say he broke into some Magoffin County storage units.

Police were called to Action Storage back on Aug. 28 after the manager reported that someone had cut the locks off of four storage units. Security video showed a pickup pull up and the driver cut the locks with a grinder, then load items from each one of the units into his truck.

Three weeks later, the manager spotted the same truck parked at Goodwill in Pikeville and called police.

After getting the license number off of the truck, police were able to trace it to Justin Hughes, 41, who lives in the Alpike trailer park at Ivel.

Police went to his home at 1 a.m. last Monday, where they found several of the items that had been taken from the storage units. Hughes also reportedly admitted to stealing the items.

He was arrested on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
