Floyd man charged with biting officer

TEABERRY, Ky. — A Floyd County man is facing felony charges after police say he bit an officer during an arrest.

Deputies spotted Gary Kiser, 40, of Teaberry, operating a dirt bike on Route 979 and pulled him over.

After stopping him, deputies told him they had received numerous tips about him trafficking in drugs and asked if he had anything illegal in his possession. They say he pulled some items out of his pocket, but kept them concealed in his hands and turned to walk away, repeating, “Why are you doing this to me?”

Deputies then attempted place him in custody, during which he fell to the ground. The arresting officer noted that Kiser then attempted to swallow two bags of heroin, but the officer blocked his mouth and that’s when Kiser bit him.

He was ultimately arrested and charged with assaulting an officer, possession of heroin and other charges.
