Floyd man pleads guilty to meth trafficking charge

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Floyd County man has entered a guilty plea to drug and gun charges in federal court.

Christopher Mackey, 35, admitted in U.S. District Court in Pikeville to selling 27 grams of meth to an informant in October of 2018. He also had a 9 mm handgun in his possession at the time, despite a previous felony conviction.

Mackey now faces up to 20 years in prison for distributing meth and felon in possession of a handgun.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors have agreed to drop two other drug charges and one other gun charge.

He now must wait for a judge to accept his plea before sentencing is scheduled.
