SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man is charged with fleeing police and violating graves, following a chase that ended in a graveyard.

A deputy pulled over Matthew Joseph, 36, of Salyersville, in a traffic stop. But as the deputy approached the driver’s door, the car sped away, leading to a pursuit that reached 103 mph.

The car then pulled into a residential yard, where it went over a large, decorative rock, through a ditch, and around a barn, before finally stopping on top of a small family cemetery. Joseph then ran away from the vehicle but was caught after a short chase.

He is now charged with fleeing police, wanton endangerment, violating graves and a number of traffic violations.
