PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Court records are shedding more light on a shooting death in Johnson County last week.
John Trimble, 64, of Staffordsville, was arrested for the murder of his brother-in-law, 63-year-old Randy Salyer, last Thursday.
According to a police report, Trimble and his wife, Sherrie Trimble, had been drinking with Salyer for several hours, when Salyer and Sherrie Trimble got into an argument.
Both Trimbles told police that Salyer eventually pulled a gun and held it to Sherrie Trimble’s head, saying he was going to kill her. That’s when they say John Trimble shot Salyer in the chest.
Salyer was dead by the time police arrived.
John Trimble remains in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this week.
