FLAT GAP, Ky. — A Johnson County man is in jail after his girlfriend told police he had beat her, moments before she passed out and had to be hospitalized.
A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a home on Ross Creek Road Saturday night, after the woman’s son reported that she had called him in a panic to say she was being assaulted. When the deputy arrived at the home, he found the woman on the front porch, extremely distraught, with her face bloody and swollen.
She told police that her boyfriend, Brian Travis Click, 43, of Flat Gap, had beat her until she lost consciousness. The woman passed out again and was taken to a hospital, where she was intubated. The police report notes she was feared to have a brain bleed.
Police found Click around midnight. He claimed that he and the woman had argued, but he had taken her home and left.
The deputy noticed scratch marks on his chest, which he said were caused by his girlfriend.
Click was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, a felony punishable by 10-to-20 years in prison. He is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville.
