Kentucky telling motorists ‘not so fast’ in July

FRANKFORT, Ky. — If your foot normally rests a little heavy on the gas pedal, now would be a good time to give it a summer vacation.

That’s because police across Kentucky are making a concentrated effort to get drivers to slow down … or pay the price.

Throughout July, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Office of Highway Safety is partnering with police agencies around the state to raise awareness about speeding, during an initiative called “No So Fast, Kentucky.”

According to the office, speeding and aggressive driving are responsible for one-third of fatal crashes. It can also have a harmful effect on your wallet, especially in work zones. A law passed last year increases penalties for speeding in work zones to $500 or more, and some offenses can result in a driver’s license being revoked.
