MARTIN, Ky. — Kentucky State Police is investigating after a Martin city police officer shot a suspect early Thursday morning.

Martin Police requested that KSP investigate after the shooting occurred just after midnight. KSP has statewide jurisdiction to investigate officer-involved shootings.

The suspect was taken to Pikeville Medical Center, where he was treated and released back into police custody.

No further information is being released during the initial investigation to protect the integrity of the case.
