Louisville man pleads guilty to drug charge out of Magoffin County

LEXINGTON, Ky. — As expected, a Louisville man has pleaded guilty to an amended drug charge, after police found with a large amount of meth during a traffic stop in Magoffin County.

Robert Earl Pilgrim, 36, was arrested in August of 2023 and indicted by a federal grand jury in 2024 on a charge of possession of more than 500 grams of meth with the intent to distribute.

Under a signed plea agreement filed in his case, Last week, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of possession of more than 50 grams of meth with the intent to distribute. The effective difference between the two charges is that the greater charge has a maximum potential sentence of life in prison, while the lesser charge tops out at 40 years.

Pilgrim will learn his fate when he is sentenced June 11 in Lexington.
