Man arrested after chase enters Mingo Central High School campus

A person has been arrested after a vehicle pursuit by Mingo County Sheriff’s Department deputies entered the campus of Mingo Central High School.

According to a social media post by the sheriff’s office, Zachary Fowler was arrested and charged with several criminal counts, including reckless driving, assault of a school employee, battery, felony fleeing police in a vehicle and destruction of property. The arrest stems from an incident earlier in the day Monday which was captured on video by students at Mingo Central.

In the video, Mingo deputies are shown in pursuit of an ATV on the Mingo Central campus. During the pursuit, the vehicle enters an empty grass field at the school and performs several donut turns, throwing dirt and debris about the area. One of the videos shows a person attempting to approach the spinning vehicle and is nearly covered in dirt being thrown by the ATV before the vehicle is seen speeding away from the school.

According to the sheriff’s office, Fowler was arrested by Mingo Sheriff’s Office Cpl. L Thomas and Deputy J.D. Tincher. The post notes that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
