LOVELY, Ky. — Local, state and federal officers arrested a Martin County man Friday, following his indictment in a federal drug case.
Cody Gene Spears, 29, of Lovely, was arrested by U.S. Marshals, Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest followed Spears’ indictment last week on two counts of distributing more than 50 grams of meth. The indictment accuses Spears of selling the drug on two occasions last month.
The charge carries a potential sentence of between 5 and 40 years in prison.
Spears has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is scheduled to go on trial Nov. 17.
