FRANKFORT, Ky. — The coronavirus didn’t take a holiday, after the state posted its highest numbers yet on Thanksgiving Day.
The latest numbers show nearly 11,000 new cases reported over the four-day holiday weekend, bringing the total to nearly 177,000. Of the four days, Thanksgiving saw the most new cases, with 3,870 new cases reported — setting a new single-day record.
Sixty-one more Kentuckians have died, raising the death toll to 1,896.
More than 1,700 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, including 407 in intensive care and 218 on ventilators.
The state’s positivity rate is on the rise again, and now stands at 9.24 percent.
