PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A man who is waiting to go on trial for murder in Floyd County will spend at least five years in prison, after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge.

Wesley Glenn Martin, 46, of Wayland, was arrested in 2019, after authorities found the body of 26-year-old Jordan Tackett buried in a shallow grave on his property. He was charged with murder and his trial is scheduled to begin August 22.

When he was arrested, police found two sawn-off shotguns in his possession, even though he was convicted of assault and wanton endangerment in Knott County back in 2012. That resulted in a charge of felon in possession of a firearm, and in Pikeville federal court on Monday, he was sentenced to 69 months in prison.
