PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man was arrested over the weekend, following allegations that he strangled a child.
Police were called to a home on Ziegler Drive, in Pikeville, by a woman who said Michael Harris, 41, had choked her 10-year-old son and fired a gun at a car, as she was trying to leave him.
When police arrived, they found Harris lying on the back porch of the house. When police told him he was under arrest, he informed them that he had drugs in his pockets, and police found a bag of meth that had spilled in his pocket and a bag of fentanyl, along with a pipe.
Harris was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault — child abuse, strangulation, and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
