LOGAN, W.Va. — Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is now offering a new CDL program, and on Thursday, they announced who will be teaching it.

Jeff Trout joins the college as the CDL program instructor. A Pike County resident and graduate of Morehead State University, Trout has worked for Appalachian Regional Healthcare for the past 31 years, most recently as transportation manager.

Now he is excited to take on a new role in training the next generation of commercial drivers.

“The faculty and staff have gone above and beyond in making my transition seamless,” Trout says. “We’re building something new here and I look forward to furthering great relationships with my colleagues and students.”

The excitement goes both ways.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this program,” President Dr. Pamela Alderman said. “Jeff is a perfect fit for us. This program is going to make a big impact for so many students.”

The CDL program is one of several new programs the college plans to offer, including electrical line worker and diesel repair.
