WISE, Va. — The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide, after a man and child were found dead Wednesday night.

Deputies were called to the home of Joshua Gardner, 43, of Wise, for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found Gardner and a young child dead, with evidence pointing to a case of murder-suicide.

The case remains under investigation, and both bodies have been taken to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy.
