MARTIN, Ky. — A Floyd County man is facing drug trafficking charges, after allegedly dropping a bag of drugs in front of a police officer.
A deputy was patrolling in Martin when he spotted a car with expired tags and went to pull it over. The car pulled into a gas station parking lot and the driver immediately went into the store.
The deputy then asked a passenger in the car, Justin Kyle Bryant, 33, of Martin, to step out, and when he did, a bag containing a white powder fell out of his pocket. That prompted a search which turned up 23 grams of meth and six grams of fentanyl. The officer also found plastic bags, scales and cash.
The deputy wrote in his report that Bryant then pinned himself against the car in an attempt to keep the officer from searching him. That didn’t work, and the deputy eventually found a gun hidden in his pants.
Bryant was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth and fentanyl, felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.
