Police searching for man who approached student at morning bus stop

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  Social media was abuzz after an alleged incident Wednesday morning that happened as a student was waiting on the school bus.  Pikeville Police officials say they were notified after a seventh grade student waiting on a school bus said she was approached by an older male who pulled up to her in a vehicle and asked if she needed a ride. That incident prompted school officials to send out a safety notice to parents, assuring them that action was being taken. Police Chief Chris Edmonds says his department is taking it serious as well.  Officers are patrolling the area, watching for suspicious vehicles and checking security cameras of homes in the area to see if they can identify the person in question.  Anyone with any information on this incident is encouraged to call the Pikeville Police Department at 606-437-5111.
