PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Madison County man who was arrested for drug trafficking after being stopped for speeding in Pikeville has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
George Anthony Walker, 56, of Richmond, was pulled over for driving 51 miles an hour on Hambley Boulevard back in March. During the stop, police found nearly 112 grams of meth in his car.
Walker pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute back in federal court back in June. Because he had a previous drug trafficking conviction, he faced a potential prison sentence of between 10 years and life.
During his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, the judge ordered him to spend 240 months in prison. Because parole has been abolished in the federal system, he will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
