ROYALTON, Ky. — A Magoffin County man is in jail on attempted murder of a police officer and a long list of other charges, following a chase that lasted for more than three hours early Sunday morning.
Officers were patrolling around Royalton when they spotted 21-year-old Joshua Brown driving a Nissan Altima on Meadows Branch Road. Police knew Brown to be the subject of numerous warrants and tried to stop him as he approached, but he allegedly put the car in reverse and started to back away instead.
One officer got to his door as he was trying to put the car in drive, but he allegedly continued to flee and nearly ran over a couple of the officers.
The case continued along several roads until Brown lost control and crashed into a ditch. He then allegedly jumped out the window and led police on a foot chase through the forest for more than a mile.
He was finally captured when one officer got close enough to deploy his taser.
Brown is now charged with attempted murder of a police officer, wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing police and numerous other charges.
