PIKEVILLE, Ky. — In response to the devastating flash floods that swept across Eastern Kentucky in late July, U.S. Bank Foundation donated $25,000 to aid two local organizations, Aspire Appalachia and Pikeville Medical Center Foundation for Quality Healthcare.

“I’ve lived in Kentucky all my life and I’ve never seen anything like the damage that our communities are facing,” U.S. Bank District Manager Shadd Walters said. “Our hearts and hands have been with Kentucky as U.S. Bank employees have been on the ground helping with relief efforts. It’s a privilege to work with Aspire Appalachia and Pikeville Medical Center as the work they’re doing around the clock is making a difference in the lives of Kentuckians affected by the disaster.”

Pikeville Medical Center Foundation will apply the $15,000 donation to benefit various needs of flood victims.

“Pikeville Medical Center is committed to working with community partners like U.S. Bank for rebuilding and recovery efforts,” Senior Vice President, Assistant CEO and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Aaron Crum, of Pikeville Medical Center, said. “Homes have been destroyed, lives have been lost and hundreds of families are in desperate need of assistance.  We appreciate this generous donation from U.S. Bank.”

Aspire Appalachia plans to use the $10,000 donation to purchase insulation and drywall for approximately 10 homes.

“Our goal is getting families a safe respite from the elements as winter comes closer,” said Brittany Adams, treasurer for Aspire Appalachia. “We are thankful to work with U.S. Bank and make a difference in the community.”

In addition to assisting organizations who are in the area serving the communities through cleanup efforts, U.S. Bank employees collected and distributed supplies and worked with a local pharmacy to offer tetanus shots at the Martin branch.
