Lawrence “Eugene” Halcomb, 39, of Blackey, is wanted for murder and fetal homicide. Police say he is believed to be the person responsible for shooting and killing 43-year-old Vanessa Halcomb, of Linefork, Thursday afternoon.

“We got reports that he might be in a particular area,” said Trooper Matt Gayheart, public information officer for Post 13 in Hazard. “Troopers are going door-to-door in that area to check everything out.”

Gayheart also said police are not releasing the location they are investigating for officer safety. He said they don’t know if he is monitoring media reports or if he has someone else doing so for him.

Halcomb is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 185 lbs., with dark hair and brown eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you know of Halcomb’s location or have any other information about the incident, you are asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard at 606-435-6069, or call 911.
