ABINGDON, Va. — A southwestern Virginia man has pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges in federal court.

Malcolm T’rell Pinkston, 31, of Big Stone Gap, was charged last week with possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute and use of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. According to court records, the charges stem from Nov. 7, when Pinkston was found with more than 40 grams of meth and two handguns.

He pleaded guilty to the charges in federal court in Abingdon on Wednesday.

He was convicted in 2012 of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, which will mean he now faces a sentence of between 10 years and life in prison.
