PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Getting your foot in the door normally has a positive meaning, but not when you’re being taken to jail. That’s the lesson a Mingo County woman is learning the hard way.

Ailisa Hendricks, 23, of Chattaroy, was pulled over by Pikeville Police on U.S. 119 last Wednesday night for an expired tag. The officer then learned she also didn’t have a driver’s license and was wanted on a warrant out of Mingo County.

She was arrested and placed in the back of the police car. But unknown to the officer, Hendricks allegedly slipped part of her shoe in the door, preventing it from closing completely, and she was able to get out while the officer went to return papers to a passenger in her car.

After several minutes of searching, the officer found Hendricks hiding in some weeds.

She was arrested once again and charged with escape and fleeing police, in addition to the other charges.
