Woman sentenced after brutal stabbing in Pike County

Sentencing was handed down on a Lexington woman in a recent stabbing case that involved a female juvenile who helped break into a Pike County residence. According to Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Melissa Goodman, 45 year old Tonia Caldwell alongside an unnamed female juvenile broke into Tom Varney’s home in Forest Hills, KY. Goodman says that they beat Varney with a crowbar and stabbed him repeatedly. Goodman also mentioned the Emergency Room doctor who testified stated, “…basically his guts were coming out.” The jury returned a verdict of 1st degree assault and the judge imposed Caldwell to a 10 year sentence in prison.
