STOPOVER, Ky. — A Pike County man is in jail after police say he fired a rifle at a car with three people inside, hitting one of them.
Kentucky State Police responded to a report Tuesday night of a crash at Hurricane Creek, near Stopover, followed by a shooting.
The officer responding to the scene determined that, after the crash, Emzie Roy Blankenship, 27, of Phelps, fired three shots at the other vehicle, causing a serious injury to one of the occupants.
Blankenship reportedly told police he shot at the other car after the other drive pulled a handgun.
Blankenship was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and wanton endangerment.
