Deputies track down heater stolen from fire department, make drug trafficking arrest

Edgar Ward

THEALKA, Ky. — A Johnson County man has been arrested after allegedly being found in possession of an item reported stolen from a fire department.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of a break-in at the Thealka Fire Department Friday night, after someone pried open a door, ransacked a training room, and stole a propane heater. A witness told officers that two men were seen leaving the building and they possibly went to a nearby home.

Officers went to the home of 44-year-old Edgar Ward, who they could see through the window was asleep on a couch. The unlatched door opened when they knocked, revealing the stolen heater sitting in the floor, as well as a large amount of drug paraphernalia. They also found several bags of meth inside.

Ward was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, drug trafficking and other charges.
