PIKEVILLE, Ky. — It appears the federal carjacking case against three Knott and Perry county residents could soon be over, as the remaining defendants have asked to change their pleas.

Angela Vanover, 49, of Hazard, filed a motion Thursday asking to be rearraigned in the case. That was followed by a request on Sunday from Christopher Adam Cole, 33, of Littcarr, to also change his plea.

If granted, the pleas would bring the case to a conclusion. Back in July, the third and final person charged in the case, Brandi Hurt, 28, of Bonnyman, pleaded guilty to carjacking, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

Cole is accused of stealing cars by force on two occasions last year, assisted by Hurt in one instance and Vanover in the other.

Cole also faces weapons charges related to the thefts.
