PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Floyd County woman was arrested after her 3-year-old was treated for a drug overdose.

Pikeville Police were called to Pikeville Medical Center Sunday afternoon after Miranda Garrett, 24, of Martin, brought her child in throwing up and nodding off.

According to court records, the child tested positive for suboxone and had to be given Narcan to combat the overdose.

Police say Garrett at first tried to blame her husband, because she saw the child going through one of his bags. But after learning what the child had ingested, she allegedly told police it was her fault and no one else was to blame.

Garrett is now charged with first-degree child abuse and first-degree wanton endangerment.

She remains in the Pike County Detention Center.
