
McDONOUGH, Ga. — Funeral arrangements have been announced for the lead singer of a Pikeville band that found national success in the 1960s.

Richard “Cat” Weems died last week in Georgia.
Weems was lead singer of the band Richie Weems and the Continental V, which was a popular act locally, but also earned national airplay of their cover of “Making Believe” and their original song, “Natural Born Man,” which reached number 52 on the Billboard charts in 1963.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Monday, at Sylvain Funeral Home, in McDonough, Ga., with funeral services at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery in Atlanta.
The funeral will be live-streamed for those not able to attend the service. The funeral can be viewed at sylvainfuneral.com/live-stream, beginning at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday.
