ABINGDON, Va. — Two health care executives will face no more than a year in jail, after reaching a plea deal to resolve a health care fraud case out of southwestern Virginia.
Myron Joel Wyatt, 64, of Coeburn, and Stephanie Brook Davis, 55, of Lacassas, Tenn., each pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of conspiracy to defraud the United States.
The two had been charged as part of the 2024 National Health Care Enforcement Action, which brought criminal charges against 193 people around the country.
Wyatt and Davis had originally faced charges of health care fraud and conspiracy for their conduct while working as officers for a behavioral health services company in Wise County. According to the indictment, the two allegedly submitted more than 3,400 false claims to Medicaid, by saying patients had been treated under the direction of a licensed behavior analyst who didn’t work in the office and had no role in their treatment.
Wyatt and Davis will be sentenced Nov. 7.
