PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — As the anniversary of the Allen massacre draws near, plans are being made to pay tribute to the victims.

On June 30, 2022, two Prestonsburg police officers, one Floyd County sheriff’s deputy, and a sheriff’s K-9 unit were killed by a gunman who was barricaded inside his home.

The man arrested for the killings later died by suicide in jail.

The city of Prestonsburg will hold a candlelight vigil to remember the victims. It will be held in the municipal parking lot in downtown Prestonsburg.
