PRESTONSBURG, Ky. –Two men accused of trying to cover up the murder of Amber Spradlin are now asking the court to release them from home incarceration and electronic monitoring.
Michael McKinney, 57, and Josh Mullins, 25, are charged alongside murder suspect M.K. McKinney with eight counts of evidence tampering.
Spradlin was found stabbed to death June 18, 2023, inside of Michael McKinney’s home.
In motions filed on Thursday, attorneys for both Michael McKinney and Mullins ask that the requirements for home incarceration and electronic monitoring be lifted, saying they impede their ability to meet with their attorneys, gather evidence and assist in their defense. The motions go on to say both have had no new violations, have attended all court hearings, and have followed all orders of the court.
The attorneys say a hearing on the matter is not necessary and simply ask that Special Judge Eddy Coleman rule on the request.
