Mingo confirms latest coronavirus case

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Mingo County Health Department has confirmed the county’s latest case of COVID-19.

According to a statement from the health department, a 56-year-old man exhibiting mild symptoms is isolating at home after being confirmed as the county’s 13th COVID-19 patient. Contact tracing efforts are underway, the health department said in the statement.

Mingo County has had 13 confirmed COVID-19 cases and three probable cases, for a grand total of 16. The county has seen 1,340 people tested for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, the statement said, and Mingo County has experienced two COVID-19-related deaths. According to the statement, there are currently four active COVID-19 cases in Mingo County, and 10 patients have recovered from the disease.

“The health department is asking the community to continue to practice social distancing, wear face coverings, if possible, and obey all Governor’s Executive Orders,” the statement said. “Those who feel they need to be tested, please contact your primary care provider, your local hospital, or your local healthcare clinic.
