Nurse midwife charged with rape, sexual abuse

Carrie Lee Hall

WHITESBURG, Ky. — Nearly four years ago, Letcher County nurse-midwife Carrie Hall was making headlines for rushing from a hair appointment to the hospital for a delivery.

Today, she’s making a different type of headline — charged with 26 counts, including rape, sodomy and sexual abuse of a 16-year-old, in a total of six indictments.

Hall was arrested Thursday and remains held without bond in the Letcher County jail.

In addition to the sexual charges, she is also charged with witness tampering, evidence tampering and bribing a witness.
No hearings have yet been set in the case.
