Paving begins on US 23 in Pikeville, Kentucky

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (MTN) — Paving and construction have begun on US 23 South in Pikeville, Kentucky.

According to a statement from Kentucky Highway District 12, this paving project will start at 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM and last for two to three weeks starting from Marion’s Branch to Island Creek.

This project will include thermoplastic striping and rumble strips and the work zone runs from mile point 20.720 to 22.941.

The statement continues to say that one lane will be closed in each direction at all times and the work zone speed limit is reduced to 45 miles per hour with law enforcement monitoring daily.

Numerous work crews are expected to be on location and motorists should proceed with caution while traveling through the work zone.
