Pike County’s new Solid Waste Enforcement officer finding success

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  Since taking office a little more than a month ago, Pike County Judge Executive Ray Jones has vowed to take steps to clean up Pike County, literally.   And, one of those steps was hiring a Solid Waste Enforcement officer, whose primary job is to investigate illegal dump sites in the county and enforce county garbage codes.  The new solid waste enforcement officer is Bruce Anderson, a sworn law enforcement officer with 15 years’ experience.  Anderson says this new position with the county is a lot like his former job as a police detective.  In his first three weeks on the job, he has investigated five cases which are now in the hands of the Pike County attorney to prosecute.  Judge Executive Ray Jones says until things change with illegal dumps in the county, there will be no warnings issued when someone is found in violation.  Anyone wishing to report an illegal dump site is encouraged to do so by calling the Pike County Solid Waste department.
