GREASY CREEK, Ky. — A Pike County man is in jail after allegedly leading police on a chase on a stolen motorcycle.
A state trooper was patrolling Greasy Creek around 8:30 Wednesday night, when he spotted a motorcycle that appeared to be driving recklessly.
When he got behind it and ran the bike’s plate, it also turned out to be expired, so he activated his lights to pull it over. Instead, the motorcycle sped up, sparking a pursuit.
The police report notes the bike stopped once to let a rear passenger off, then took off again.
Eventually, the bike crashed in a ditch and the operator, identified as Roger Chaney, 46, of Shelbiana, allegedly tried to run away before giving up. When police ran the motorcycle’s VIN, it came back as having been stolen out of Floyd County.
Chaney was arrested on receiving stolen property, fleeing police and numerous other charges.
