PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Students and staff of Pikeville Independent Schools are mourning the loss of one of their students, following an illness.

Kylie Brooke Clark, 15, of Harold, died on Sunday.

“Kylie has been described by her classmates today as a friend who would light any room with her smile,” a statement from the school district reads. “She is remembered for how she cared about others and always demonstrated kindness to the kids and adults around her. The lives of the students and staff of this district will forever be better because of the blessing of having Kylie as a part of this family.”

Clark was the daughter of Barry Gordon and Kimberly Denise Clark and the sister of Seth Aaron Clark, all of Harold.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, at Hall Funeral Home, in Martin. Clark will lie in state at Pikeville High School from 11 a.m., Saturday, until the time of her funeral service, which begins at 1 p.m. at the school.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in her honor to the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church for nursery renovation.
