WHITESBURG, Ky. — Police have released details about Wednesday’s fatal crash on U.S. 119 in Letcher County.

It happened just after 8 o’clock Wednesday morning, near Pert Creek, about 2 miles south of Whitesburg. Police say a tractor-trailer carrying lumber failed to negotiate a sharp curve and ran off the road, into a creek.

Two men inside the truck died at the scene. They are identified as 70-year-old Jackie Lawson and 52-year-old Stuart Horn, both of Elkhorn.

Police say no seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.
