W.Va., Ky. police work together in drug cases

KENOVA, W.Va. — Police departments worked together across state lines in the arrest of three people on drug charges over the weekend.

Kenova Police officers pulled over a vehicle Saturday night occupied by three Louisa residents. Two of the occupants were already under investigation for drug trafficking, and Kenova Police had been sharing information with Louisa Police and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office about their activities.

Kelley Atkins, 28, was charged with conspiracy to deliver heroin, while Winfred Scott, 30, was charged with possession of heroin, cocaine and meth with intent to deliver.

The third passenger in the car — 39-year-old Brenda Shannon — was also charged with a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

All three remain in the Western Regional Jail, in Barboursville.
